INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAMME FOR SMALL PROJETS
THE PROGRAMME
The main objective of the programme for small projects of the Dutch Embassy is to contribute to better living conditions of disadvantaged people and to support local initiatives generating development. Also, a budget is available for cultural projects with a visibility for The Netherlands.
The programme has the possibility to contribute to local projects in the following countries :

Senegal
-
Cape Verde
-
Mauritania
-
The Gambia
-
Guinea Bissau
CONDITIONS
The Programme for Small Projects is open to applications of recognized local organisations (NGO’s, associations …). Occasionally, financial support is provided to a non-governmental organisation from The Netherlands for a project that profits the local population of one of the countries mentioned above.
The maximum duration of a project is one year. The financial contribution of the Embassy is at most € 25.000 (FCFA 16.400.000) and can only be attributed once per activity. The contract should enable the project to become self sufficient or it should involve a once-only activity.
The Programme for Small Projects cannot support:

Isolated activities (expert missions, travelling, etc.)

Equipment costs or operating costs of organisations.
The grant will be paid in two instalments.

APPLICATION
The applications for a grant in 2012 can be submitted as from December 2011 until latest 31 January 2012. They will be examined at the beginning of the year, taking into consideration the following 5 criteria:

Eligibility of the request

Technical and financial implication of the beneficiaries

Risks associated with the success of the project

Structure of the budget
-
Project relevance with respect to the needs of the beneficiaries
The allocation of the budget of the programme in the 5 countries mentioned above is taken into account.
